I am truly blessed and honoured to be present today amongst others on the occasion of the 108th birth anniversary of His Holiness Acharya Shree Tulsi Ji, known worldwide as one of the greatest Acharyas who was a man of vision.

At the age of 11, he renounced his family to become a monk within the Terapanth Sect. He saw Jainism as the path to selflessly service of the mankind and help others and their own self enlightenment. He had visualized how life should be lived and used his energies for the betterment of the world. He had an aura around him that would enhance the quality of life of anybody coming to him. These factors came to define his vision of the philosophy of Jainism and were the unshakable tenets he lived by.

Despite the fact that technologies and communication systems in his time were not as developed as today, the vision and voice of Acharya Shree Tulsi crossed the boundaries of our nation and reached even abroad. In order to spread his words he often undertook long sojourns on foot with his followers. These journeys quickly became known as the Anuvrat Movement. He gave a new interpretation of religion, tried to fill the gap between science and spirituality by putting forward constructive programme of human regeneration in the form of the Anuvrat Movement and Preksha Meditation.

I am so happy that Chandigarh has a strong base of Jainism under the able guidance of Acharya Muni Shree Vinay Kumar Ji and Acharya Muni Shree Abhay Kumar Ji. The Jain Samaj, I must say, is doing a great service in inspiring people to observe a disciplined life establishing the values of friendship, unity peace and morality. We have to follow the principles of truth and non violence if we want to evolve a peaceful society.

Acharya Tulsi's life and his qualities can be distilled into three universal steps to success: Dream, Determination and Dedication. Together all three led him to destination. And that should be the crux of our life too.

Thank You

Jai Hind.
