PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION OF NMIMS ON APRIL 2, 2024
I am glad at to be the Annual Prize Distribution Function of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Chandigarh Campus.
We have gathered to celebrate the achievements, hard work, and dedication of students.
As we gather here, I am reminded of the words of the great philosopher Aristotle: “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere efforts, and intelligent execution”.
The prize winners have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in (i) Academics (ii) Entrepreneurship (iii) and Innovation.
I commend each one of you for your relentless efforts.
Keep pushing the boundaries, keep questioning and keep seeking answers.
Remember that education is not just about acquiring facts; it is about developing critical thinking, empathy and a sense of responsibility towards society.
Those students who have been bold to take the plunge into the world of startups and business, who have chosen to be Job Providers and not Job seekers, to those young entrepreneurs, I say: Your journey will not always be smooth, but remember that every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow.
Embrace failure as a stepping stone to success. Be bold, be adaptable, and never lose sight of your vision. The world needs more creators, and more problem solvers like you.
To the winners of innovation challenges, I must say that your solutions have the power to shape the future.
In the fast changing global scenario ‘I’ in India has to stand for Innovation.
Innovation is the lifeblood of progress.
So, keep collaborating, keep experimenting and keep making a difference.
My experiences prompts me to say, today’s achievement, the applause and appreciation may become a distant memory. But, you will always be remembered for caring enough, for helping someone, for making someone feel special and appreciated, for being the kind.
So, be compassionate citizens; Don’t forget the less fortunate ones. Remember that success is not just about personal achievements; it is about contributing to the greater good.
Simultaneously, Beware of vices!
Mahatma Gandhi wrote an Article on 7 sins in Young India, in 1925.
In this he cautioned against knowledge without character as being one of the sins that can destroy a nation.
The others are:
Wealth without work;
Pleasure without conscience;
Commerce without morality;
Science without humanity;
Religion without sacrifice; and
Politics without principle.
So, friends Men and Women of character can alone lead society towards peace and prosperity.
Let discipline be your watchword;
Let dedication be your friend and let devotion to the Almighty be your guide.
When such values mould your character, the impact of your knowledge is bound to be respected and recognized.
In conclusion, I congratulate all the prize winners and commend every student who has worked hard.
Your journey has just begun, and I have no doubt that you will go on to achieve great things.
No matter where you work, no matter where you live, do keep in mind the needs of your Motherland, India.
Do not forget, you have a great responsibility to craft the agenda of a New India.
Augment the prestige of India both at the National and the International platforms.
Live for the growth of our nation and the welfare of our countrymen!
May God bless you in all your missions.
Thank you,
Jai Hind.
